Ingredients to prepare dal dhokli

  • 1 cup tur dal

  • 2 teaspoons peanuts

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (Raai)

  • Half teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 pinch asafoetida (Hing)

  • 1 whole red chilli

  • 5-6 curry leaves

  • 1 finely chopped onion

  • 1 finely chopped tomato

  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

  • Half teaspoon turmeric (Haldi)

  • Half teaspoon red chilli powder

  • Half teaspoon cumin powder

  • Half teaspoon coriander powder

  • Half teaspoon garam masala

  • Jaggery (Gud) – A small piece

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Finely chopped green coriander leaves

  • What is needed to make Dhokli?
  • 1 cup wheat flour

  • Half teaspoon turmeric (Haldi)

  • Half teaspoon red chili powder

  • Half teaspoon celery (Ajwain)

  • Salt to taste

Directions to cook Dal Dhokli Recipe

  • How to make lentils (Tur Daal)
  • To make dal, first wash the dal 2-3 times. After this, put 1 cup dal and 2 cups water, peanuts and 1 teaspoon oil in a cooker and cook till 3-4 whistles. When the dal becomes soft, mash it.
  • Now put one teaspoon ghee, a pinch of asafoetida, 1 teaspoon mustard, half teaspoon cumin, 1 whole red chilli and 5-6 curry leaves in a pan and fry it.
  • Now fry finely chopped onion in it. When the onion becomes golden brown, add finely chopped tomato and ginger-garlic paste and fry it.
  • Add mashed dal to it, add 1 cup water and mix well. After mixing the dal, add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala to it.
  • Stir it well and then add jaggery, salt and 1 teaspoon lemon juice to it.
  • After mixing everything, add 1 cup water to the dal and cook it for 2-3 minutes. Now your dal is ready.
  • How to make Dhokli
  • To make dhokli, first of all, put 1 cup wheat flour, turmeric, chili powder, celery, salt and 2 teaspoons oil in a vessel.
  • After mixing the spices, knead the wheat flour. Do not knead the wheat flour too tight. Now make flour balls.
  • Roll it in the desired shape. If you want, you can also shape it like namakapare. Now add the dhokli pieces in the boiling lentils and mix well.
  • Add the dhokli and cover the lentils and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Finally add finely chopped coriander leaves. Serve with roti or rice.
